Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday vowed to root out terrorism and separatist elements from Jammu and Kashmir, warning those supporting terrorism that they would be found and punished under the law. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) on Police Commemoration Day, LG Sinha paid tribute to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty and said their valour and sacrifice continued to inspire efforts towards peace, unity and security. “Our goal is to identify and root out terrorism and every element associated with it in Jammu Kashmir. Today, we must resolve that we will not rest until this land is freed from separatist and terrorist elements. I warn those elements within Jammu Kashmir who support terrorism that your days are over. Even if you attempt to hide in Pataal, we will find you and ensure that you are punished under the law,” he said. The Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to the families of police martyrs, assuring them of continued support and welfare measures. “I have always said that no honour or assistance can compensate a family for the pain of losing a loved one. Yet, it is the nation’s duty to honour their sacrifice not merely in words, but also through its conduct and responsibilities. I assure the entire Jammu Kashmir Police family that every possible effort will continue to be made to ensure a dignified life, welfare, and necessary support for the families of the martyrs,” he said. Sinha said thousands of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel had laid down their lives in the fight against terrorism, adding that their courage inspired police forces across the country. “The nation will never forget the contribution of immortal martyrs, who dedicated everything to the honour, dignity and glory of the Tricolour,” he said. He said the Jammu and Kashmir Police had rendered distinguished service in maintaining law and order, combating terrorism and assisting people during emergencies and natural disasters. Referring to the country’s development goals, he said peace, stability and progress in Jammu and Kashmir were of special importance, with the police, Army and Central Armed Police Forces bearing a major responsibility for ensuring them. The LG called for upholding unity, communal harmony and mutual trust while remaining vigilant against forces seeking to disrupt peace and stability. He also stressed the need to prevent crimes against women and children, protect vulnerable sections of society, ensure timely justice and strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and narco-terrorism. “The prevention of crimes against women and children, the protection of vulnerable sections and ensuring timely justice for victims must be among our highest priorities,” he said, reiterating the need for a collective commitment to a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir. The LG also commended the personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army and the Central Armed Police Forces for their courage, dedication and spirit of service, wishing them success in their missions and safety in their lives.—(KNO)
